Buffalo, New York – Slippery roads are easing across western New York this morning as lake effect snow winds down, but another round of mixed precipitation is set to disrupt travel again within hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, snow showers will diminish by late morning Wednesday, with skies turning partly sunny and highs reaching the low to mid-30s across the region. Areas closer to the North Country will stay colder, with temperatures holding in the upper 20s.
Road crews have been treating major routes including I-90 and I-190, where earlier snow created slick patches during the morning commute. Conditions improve into the afternoon, though untreated side streets may remain slushy.
Clouds thicken again late tonight, with light rain and snow showers expected to redevelop after midnight. By Thursday, highs climb into the low to mid-40s for much of western New York, while northern areas remain in the 30s showers could impact both the morning and evening commutes.
By Friday, warmer air pushes temperatures into the mid to upper 40s, especially east of Lake Ontario, with continued chances for rain or a rain-snow mix.
Drivers should remain alert for changing conditions, especially overnight into Thursday morning. Additional advisories may be issued as unsettled weather continues through the end of the week.
