New York, NY – Drivers across parts of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut could face slick and slushy roads late tonight into Tuesday morning as accumulating snow spreads across the region, complicating the early commute before a gradual change to rain.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, light to moderate snow is expected to develop overnight and continue into Tuesday morning, with most areas transitioning to rain by Tuesday afternoon. Total snowfall of 1 to 3 inches is possible across the Lower Hudson Valley, northeast New Jersey, and southwestern Connecticut, while amounts elsewhere remain under 2 inches.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and northern Westchester counties in New York, along with Passaic and western Bergen counties in New Jersey and northern Fairfield County in Connecticut. Snow and slush-covered roads may create hazardous travel conditions, particularly during the Tuesday morning commute along major routes including I-87, I-287, and I-80.

Coastal areas are expected to change over to rain first, with inland locations holding onto snow longer. Some interior spots may see snow persist until precipitation tapers off. Officials urge drivers to slow down, allow extra travel time, and avoid unnecessary trips during the morning hours.

Weather advisories remain in effect through Tuesday afternoon, and additional updates may be issued if conditions change overnight.
