Albany, NY – New Yorkers in the Hudson Valley face a combination of severe thunderstorms and dangerous heat today. Strong to locally damaging wind gusts are the primary concern, with an isolated tornado and large hail also possible.
According to the US National Weather Service Albany NY, a Heat Advisory remains in effect for parts of the Hudson Valley from 11 AM through 8 PM today, June 19. Temperatures combined with high humidity create conditions where heat-related illnesses like exhaustion and heat stroke are a significant risk.
The severe weather outlook shows a “Slight Risk” (Level 2) for areas including Poughkeepsie, Phoenixia, and parts of the Capital Region, indicating scattered severe storms. The severe wind outlook highlights a 30-44% probability of significant wind gusts (74 mph or greater) within 25 miles of a point for these same areas.
Residents should monitor weather updates closely and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
