Massena, NY – A special weather statement has been issued for Massena, Malone, and surrounding areas in northern New York, with severe storms expected to bring damaging winds and hail this afternoon. The National Weather Service in Burlington, Vermont, has warned residents to prepare for winds up to 50 MPH and hail as large as half an inch.

According to the National Weather Service, the statement is in effect until 5:45 p.m. today. The storms are expected to develop rapidly, increasing the risk of property damage, particularly in areas exposed to high winds. Hail could also cause significant damage to vehicles and crops.

Residents in Massena and nearby towns, including Malone and Brushton, are advised to seek shelter in sturdy buildings as the storms approach. The potential for downed trees and power lines could lead to localized power outages and hazardous travel conditions.
