Albany, NY – A warm start to the week will give way to widespread showers by midweek across the Capital Region and much of upstate New York, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say Sunday will stay dry with highs in the mid-70s, offering another crisp early fall day. Temperatures will continue to trend upward Monday and Tuesday, with many locations including Albany, Poughkeepsie, and Saratoga Springs reaching into the upper 70s to near 80.

According to the National Weather Service Albany office, rain chances build beginning late Monday night, with the highest probabilities on Tuesday and Wednesday. Areas such as Glens Falls, Herkimer, and the Adirondacks could see precipitation chances peak above 65% during the day Tuesday. Showers are expected to linger through Wednesday before tapering off by Thursday.

By late week, cooler air will return, with highs dipping back into the low to mid-70s and overnight lows settling in the 50s. The change brings a more typical early fall feel after the brief warm-up.

The National Weather Service notes the rainfall will be beneficial after a stretch of dry weather, providing some much-needed moisture for the region.

What about you? Do you welcome the return of cooler weather and rain, or do you prefer the warmer early fall days?
