Binghamton, N.Y. – A chilly, soggy stretch is on tap for Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania, with widespread rain expected midweek and unseasonably cool temperatures holding through Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, periods of rain will begin ramping up Wednesday, with a 90% chance of showers and daytime highs only in the 50s. Thursday brings an 80% rain chance with continued below-average temperatures. Frost is possible Monday night into early Tuesday, especially in rural valleys where lows could dip into the upper 30s.

Cities including Binghamton, Ithaca, Syracuse, and Scranton should prepare for rain nearly every day from Wednesday through Saturday. Patchy frost Tuesday morning could impact sensitive plants, and breezy northwest winds up to 25 mph on Monday may make it feel even colder. Highs for much of the week will struggle to reach the low 60s, with lows frequently in the 40s.

Drivers should watch for slick roads during morning commutes, especially with scattered showers and cooler conditions expected to linger. Residents should secure outdoor furniture, charge devices in case of power disruptions, and delay planting tender crops.

Rain chances continue through Saturday, with updates expected from the National Weather Service as the slow-moving system persists.
