Buffalo, NY – Drivers east of Lake Ontario are dealing with slick roads right now as a burst of light snow moves through the region, creating hazardous travel conditions during the early morning hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a narrow band of snow is impacting areas including Watertown, Adams, and Fort Drum early Sunday morning. The snowfall is light but enough to coat roads, reducing visibility and making untreated surfaces slippery, especially along Interstate 81 and nearby secondary roads.
Traffic cameras show snow-covered stretches near Arsenal Street and the Fort Drum area, where reduced visibility and slick pavement are already slowing travel. The risk is highest through the early morning commute, particularly before temperatures begin to rise.
Motorists should slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time to reach their destinations. Conditions are expected to improve by late morning as temperatures climb above freezing, helping melt accumulated snow.
The snow threat will be brief, but drivers should remain cautious until road conditions fully recover later this morning.
