Buffalo, NY – A damp and unseasonably cool day is unfolding across Western and Central New York, with persistent drizzle, patchy fog, and temperatures falling well below mid-April averages.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, the region is experiencing widespread chances of light rain through 6 p.m. Friday, with precipitation probabilities reaching up to 90% in Buffalo, 79% in Rochester, and 78% in Watertown. Most areas will see under a tenth of an inch of rainfall, mainly in the form of showers or drizzle.

High temperatures will struggle to break the mid-40s, with Buffalo forecast to reach just 41°F, while Jamestown may not exceed 38°F. These values are roughly 10 degrees below normal for this time of year. Fog will accompany the rain in some locations, reducing visibility, especially during morning and evening commutes.

Travelers are advised to drive cautiously in areas of fog and wet pavement. Residents should wear layered clothing and plan for a cooler day. While no major flooding or severe storms are expected, the persistent moisture may impact outdoor plans and delay drying of already saturated grounds.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve heading into the weekend.
