Binghamton, NY – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of New York’s Southern Tier, with icy conditions expected early Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton, the advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and includes Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Sullivan, Tioga, and Tompkins counties.

Forecasters warn of mixed precipitation leading to a light glaze of ice, with localized amounts up to one-tenth of an inch, particularly in higher elevations. Slippery roads and hazardous travel conditions are expected, especially during the morning commute.
