Buffalo, NY – Rain returns to western New York overnight Thursday, bringing wet roads and breezy conditions to Buffalo just in time for Friday’s commute.
According to the National Weather Service, showers are expected to begin after 2 a.m. Friday with an 80% chance of precipitation. Light southeast winds will shift northeast by late morning, adding to the unsettled weather pattern. Temperatures will rise to a high near 47°F on Friday, but road conditions, especially along I-90 and I-190, may be slippery during peak travel hours.
By Friday night, rain will continue, with a 70% chance of lingering showers and increasing east winds. Gusts could reach 18 mph, leading to scattered delays and reduced visibility across Buffalo and Erie County. Rainfall totals remain modest—generally less than a quarter inch—but enough to cause ponding in low-lying areas.
Saturday brings more showers and a high near 60°F, while Sunday’s forecast also includes a 70% chance of rain, accompanied by steady southeast winds. Umbrellas and waterproof gear will be essential throughout the weekend.
Looking ahead, Monday may offer a slight break, though showers could return by afternoon. Expect drier skies by midweek, with sunshine forecasted Tuesday and highs in the upper 30s.
