Binghamton, NY – A cold front pushing through the region today could bring scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. However, a cool and dry airmass will settle over New York Monday and Tuesday before temperatures and humidity start to rise later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service, the weather shift will usher in a brief break from the summer heat, offering more comfortable conditions on Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the 70s to low 80s. By Wednesday, however, temperatures will climb, and humidity will return, causing heat indices to rise into the mid-90s across many areas.

In cities like Binghamton, Ithaca, and Syracuse, the cooler weather today and tomorrow will bring brief respite, but it’s a short-lived relief. By Thursday and Friday, temperatures will spike back to the upper 80s and low 90s, with high humidity contributing to even hotter conditions. Travelers should be mindful of possible rain showers today, especially in areas such as Scranton and Utica, but the rest of the week will stay mostly dry, aside from the heat building through the weekend.

What’s Next: The hot and humid conditions will persist through the weekend, with high temperatures in the low 90s by Saturday. Stay hydrated and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
