Binghamton, N.Y. – Moderate to heavy rain soaked eastern parts of New York Saturday morning, with blustery winds and falling temperatures expected to follow by afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, widespread showers will continue through the day, with wind gusts reaching 25 to 30 mph across the region. Isolated gusts over 30 mph are likely in the Mohawk Valley and Western Catskills, prompting travel concerns and the risk of downed branches or unsecured outdoor items.
Cities including Rome, Utica, and Syracuse saw temperatures peak early Saturday near 58°F, but readings will steadily drop into the low 50s by sunset. In Binghamton and Ithaca, highs hit in the morning before sliding to the upper 40s late tonight. Hazleton will dip the lowest, bottoming out at 46°F by midnight.
Road spray, reduced visibility, and pooling water could slow drivers across I-81 and Route 17. If you’re headed out this afternoon, grab a raincoat and watch for slick pavement, especially in shaded rural areas.
Wind and showers are expected to taper overnight, but temperatures will remain cool into Sunday. More updates will follow if additional advisories are issued.
