New York, NY – A Frost Advisory has been issued for parts of southeastern New York, northern New Jersey, and southern Connecticut, in effect from 11 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. EDT Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in New York City.

The advisory, released at 1:44 a.m. EDT on Friday, October 17, 2025, affects Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Northern Westchester Counties in New York; Western Passaic County in New Jersey; and Northern Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London Counties in Connecticut.

Forecasters warn that temperatures could fall to around 33°F overnight, leading to widespread frost formation in inland and sheltered locations. Sensitive outdoor plants may suffer damage or die if left uncovered.

Residents across the Hudson Valley, northern New Jersey foothills, and inland Connecticut suburbs are urged to protect vegetation, bring in potted plants, and avoid watering late tonight. This could be one of the first widespread frost events of the fall season for parts of the tri-state area.

Conditions are expected to warm gradually by mid-morning Saturday.
