Buffalo, NY – Western New York will enjoy a brief spell of spring-like weather Friday before conditions shift dramatically heading into the weekend.
According to the US National Weather Service in Buffalo, a high-pressure system will bring sunshine, lighter winds, and temperatures in the low to mid-50s on Friday, offering a pleasant day for outdoor activities. However, that calm will give way to a rainy weather pattern starting late Friday night and continuing through Saturday and Saturday night.
Southern portions of Western New York, including areas near the Pennsylvania border, face a marginal risk of heavy rainfall. The National Weather Service warns that downpours could lead to localized flooding in flood-prone zones, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
Residents in Erie, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus counties are urged to monitor forecasts and avoid travel in flooded areas. Motorists should never attempt to drive through standing water. Emergency kits and weather radios are recommended in case of power outages.
Rain is expected to continue intermittently through Saturday night, with the potential for more than an inch of total accumulation in isolated areas. The upcoming system marks a sharp contrast from Friday’s spring-like conditions and could disrupt weekend plans across the region.
