New York, NY – The first snowflakes of the season have arrived across parts of the Tri-State area Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in New York. Light flurries were spotted from northern New Jersey into southern New York, with a possible light mix reaching the coast. Forecasters say no major accumulation is expected, though a brief dusting could occur in far northern areas.

According to the NWS, strong winds will accompany the colder air mass moving through the region, with gusts reaching 40 to 45 mph across much of Long Island, New Jersey, and southern Connecticut. The strongest gusts — up to 48 mph — are expected offshore and near the coast.

High temperatures will struggle to climb out of the upper 30s to low 40s, while wind chills could dip into the upper 20s to near freezing by the afternoon. The Weather Service advises residents to secure loose outdoor items and dress in layers for the blustery conditions.

The brief wintry burst marks a sharp seasonal shift, with Tuesday’s weather delivering a preview of the colder pattern expected to continue through midweek.
