New York, NY – Storms rolling into the Tri-State area Saturday could bring damaging winds, hail, and even an isolated tornado between noon and 8 p.m., with the highest threat centered around New York City, northeast New Jersey, southwest Connecticut, and the Lower Hudson Valley.

According to the National Weather Service, a cold front pushing through the region will fuel scattered strong to severe thunderstorms, developing west to east across the region through Saturday evening. The primary concerns are wind gusts over 50 mph and hail near one inch in diameter. While the overall tornado risk remains low, isolated spin-ups can’t be ruled out.

Areas along the I-95 corridor—including Newark, White Plains, Stamford, and the Bronx—should prepare for rapid storm development and possible power outages. Outdoor events and travel during peak afternoon hours could be disrupted. Officials urge residents to secure outdoor items and monitor alerts throughout the day.

Storms are expected to taper by late evening, but localized threats may linger. Additional watches or warnings could be issued Saturday depending on storm development.
