Binghamton, NY – Residents across Upstate New York are enjoying warm, sunny weather today, but conditions will shift quickly as a cold front moves into the region this evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, winds from the north will increase to 8–12 mph this afternoon, with gusts up to 20 mph as cooler air spreads into the Twin Tiers, Catskills, and Central New York. Highs today are expected to reach the upper 70s before dropping sharply overnight.

Lows tonight will fall into the 40s across much of the region, with some areas dipping into the upper 30s. Forecasters warn that by Wednesday, temperatures will be at their lowest point of the week. Patchy frost is possible in northern valleys, including parts of Oneida County.

While rain is not expected with this front, residents should prepare for cooler mornings and brisk winds through Friday. The shift marks the first extended stretch of true fall weather, following an unseasonably warm September.

Travelers and commuters should be aware of stronger afternoon gusts, especially on north-south highways. Gardeners are also advised to take precautions for frost-sensitive plants midweek.
