New York, NY – Cooler weather will settle across the region Wednesday as cloud cover, showers, and persistent easterly winds combine to suppress daytime high temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service New York office, temperatures on May 14 will struggle to climb beyond the low-to-mid 60s across much of the region. New York City is forecast to reach only 63°F, with Long Island communities like Islip and Montauk expected to top out in the upper 50s. Inland areas such as White Plains, Bridgeport, and Danbury will hover near 60°F, while Hartford and Norwich in Connecticut may briefly touch 70°F.
Easterly winds off the Atlantic will enhance the cooling effect, particularly in coastal zones. Rain showers are expected to persist through the afternoon, contributing to the subdued warmth.
Commuters and residents should prepare for damp roads and slightly reduced visibility during morning and evening travel hours. Outdoor activities may be impacted by intermittent rainfall and breezy conditions.
While temperatures remain cooler than seasonal norms, conditions are not expected to pose significant weather hazards. Still, light jackets and umbrellas are advisable through Wednesday evening.
Temperatures are forecast to rebound later in the week as the system clears and winds shift.
