Buffalo, N.Y. – Parts of Western and Upstate New York will wake to chilly air and scattered showers Sunday as a cool front holds temperatures 10 degrees below normal and limits daytime highs to the 50s.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, light rain is most likely between 6 a.m. and noon across cities like Springville, Wellsville, and Rochester, with the highest rain chances—up to 85%—expected in Lowville and Watertown during the morning hours. While much of the region may dry out by late afternoon, clouds and breezy conditions will keep things feeling cooler than mid-May typically allows.

Temperatures are forecast to reach just 55°F in Jamestown, 58°F in Buffalo and Batavia, and no higher than 59°F in Rochester. Locations farther north, including Watertown and Lowville, may not get out of the low 50s.

Drivers should expect wet roads early, especially along I-90 and Route 219, and should allow extra travel time. With no significant warm-up until midweek, residents are encouraged to dress in layers and limit extended outdoor activity during the coolest parts of the morning.

Conditions are expected to stabilize Sunday night, but more updates may follow as the region watches for another rain system midweek.
