New York, New York – A brief surge of spring warmth will push temperatures into the 70s across parts of the region Thursday, creating the warmest conditions of the week before a cold front arrives later that night.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, highs will climb into the low 70s across northeastern New Jersey and could reach similar levels in parts of New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley by mid-afternoon Thursday. Areas like Newark, New Brunswick, and portions of the Hudson Valley are expected to see the most pronounced warming, while coastal sections of Long Island may stay cooler in the 50s due to onshore winds.

In Manhattan, temperatures are expected to reach the upper 60s to near 70°F, with even warmer readings possible just inland. Cities including White Plains and Poughkeepsie will also trend into the upper 60s.

The sharp temperature contrast between inland and coastal areas could create breezy conditions, especially near the shoreline. Residents should take advantage of the mild weather but remain aware of changing conditions heading into the evening.

A cold front will approach late Thursday night, bringing the potential for showers and a drop in temperatures by early Friday. Additional updates and possible advisories are expected as the system nears.
