Albany, New York – Snow will overspread the western Capital Region by 10 p.m. Sunday, bringing up to 7 inches and gusty winds that could create hazardous travel through Monday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday until 7 p.m. Monday for southern and northern Fulton County, Montgomery County, northern Saratoga County and southern Washington County. Total snowfall between 3 and 7 inches is expected, with wind gusts up to 35 mph producing areas of blowing snow.
Communities including Johnstown, Gloversville, Amsterdam, Saratoga Springs, Hudson Falls and Greenwich may see snow-covered roads by daybreak Monday. Interstate 87, Route 29 and Route 30 could become slick, especially during heavier bursts overnight and into the morning commute. Blowing snow may briefly reduce visibility on open stretches and higher terrain.
Drivers should slow down, increase following distance and allow extra time to reach their destination. Both the Monday morning and evening commutes are likely to be impacted as snow continues into late afternoon.
Snow tapers toward Monday evening, but patchy blowing snow may linger until winds ease. Additional updates are possible if snowfall totals trend higher.
