Boonville, New York – Drivers across northern Oneida County could continue facing snow-covered and slippery roads through the midday hours Saturday as bands of lake-enhanced snow move across the Tug Hill region.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 2 p.m. Saturday for northern Oneida County, including the community of Boonville.
Forecasters expect an additional 2 to 5 inches of snow, with wind gusts up to 40 mph creating areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility.
Travel along Route 12 and Route 28, as well as roads across the Tug Hill Plateau, may become difficult due to snow accumulation and drifting in open areas.
Officials advise drivers to slow down and allow extra stopping distance if travel cannot be avoided. Carrying winter emergency supplies such as flashlights, blankets, food, and water is also recommended.
Conditions should gradually improve later Saturday afternoon as snowfall tapers, though slick spots may linger on untreated roads.
