Binghamton, New York – A quick burst of overnight snow is coating roads in Northern Oneida County, creating slick travel conditions just ahead of the Thursday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. EST for Northern Oneida County, including Boonville. Up to one additional inch of snow is expected before the advisory expires.

Even light accumulations can quickly cover untreated roads, bridges and overpasses, leading to slippery stretches along Route 12 and secondary roadways across the Tug Hill region. Drivers heading out before sunrise should allow extra time, reduce speed and leave additional following distance.

Road crews continue monitoring conditions, and motorists can check the latest travel updates by calling 511.

Snow will taper off toward daybreak, but patchy slick spots could linger into midmorning where temperatures remain below freezing. Additional advisories are not expected at this time, though travelers should stay alert for changing conditions.
