Albany, NY – The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Winter Storm Watch for a wide portion of the Northeast — including parts of eastern New York, western Massachusetts, northwestern Connecticut, and southern Vermont — warning that heavy snow totaling more than 7 inches is possible Tuesday through late Tuesday night.

The storm system is expected to develop early Tuesday, bringing widespread snow and slippery conditions across the Capital Region, Hudson Valley, Berkshires, and southern Vermont. The Tuesday morning and evening commutes are both likely to be affected, forecasters said.

According to the weather service, roads, bridges, and overpasses will likely become slick and hazardous as temperatures drop and snow accumulates. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution, with extra time recommended for all travel on Tuesday.

Snowfall intensity may vary by elevation, with the Catskills, Berkshires, and Green Mountains potentially seeing the highest totals.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates and be prepared for winter driving conditions throughout the day Tuesday and into Tuesday night.

The watch remains in effect from Tuesday morning through late Tuesday night and includes key areas such as Albany, Troy, Saratoga Springs, Pittsfield, Bennington, and Torrington.
