New York, NY – A Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. EDT this morning, followed by a Freeze Watch from late tonight through Monday morning across portions of Connecticut, New York, and northern New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in New York.

Forecasters say temperatures will drop to the mid-30s this morning, producing widespread frost in areas such as Orange, Putnam, Northern Westchester, and Western Passaic Counties, as well as Northern Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London Counties in Connecticut.

Overnight tonight, colder air will settle in, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 to 31°F possible under clear skies. The Freeze Watch will be in effect from late Sunday night through Monday morning, potentially marking the first freeze of the season for parts of the lower Hudson Valley and interior Connecticut.

“Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation,” the NWS cautioned early Sunday. Residents are urged to cover plants, bring sensitive vegetation indoors, and wrap or drain outdoor plumbing before the coldest air arrives tonight.

Temperatures will rebound Monday afternoon, but another cold morning could follow midweek as fall weather deepens across the Northeast.
