New York, NY – Weekend heat and humidity will give way to isolated thunderstorms across New York City by Sunday afternoon, with scattered showers possible through Tuesday, making for an unsettled stretch of late summer weather.

According to the National Weather Service, a 20% chance of storms emerges after 2 p.m. Sunday as temperatures climb into the low 90s, with southwest winds around 10 mph. Monday offers a brief dry window with partly sunny skies before rain chances return Tuesday, bringing a 40% likelihood of showers into the evening.

Saturday will see more stable conditions with a high of 84°F, though brief isolated thunderstorms can’t be ruled out in the late afternoon. Storm chances increase again late Sunday into Monday night, potentially affecting evening commutes.

While no severe weather is expected at this time, localized downpours could cause minor flooding on roads and low-lying areas. Residents are urged to monitor alerts and avoid poorly drained intersections during heavy rain. Winds will remain calm but shift from the south to southwest through the weekend.

Rain chances taper by midweek, with dry, seasonable weather expected to return by Wednesday.
