Binghamton, NY – A windy and cold weekend is ahead for central New York, with a Wind Advisory in effect until 4 a.m. Friday. Gusts up to 50 mph may bring travel hazards and downed tree limbs. Temperatures remain chilly through Saturday before a gradual warmup begins Sunday—just in time for Daylight Saving Time.

According to the National Weather Service, northwest winds of 15-25 mph will continue through Friday morning, with occasional gusts reaching 50 mph. Drivers, especially those with high-profile vehicles, should use caution on I-81 and other major routes.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with highs around 41°F, clearing in the afternoon. A chance of light snow returns Friday night into early Saturday, with lows near 24°F. Saturday remains cold, with highs around 36°F and winds gusting up to 23 mph.

By Sunday, temperatures will climb into the low 40s under partly sunny skies. The warmup continues into next week, with Monday reaching near 50°F and Tuesday soaring to 62°F. Overnight lows will also rise into the 30s and 40s.

Don’t forget to set clocks ahead one hour on Sunday as Daylight Saving Time begins. Longer daylight hours and milder weather signal the arrival of spring in upstate New York.
