BINGHAMTON, NY – Rain showers will dampen the first full day of spring in Binghamton, but clearer skies and milder temperatures are on the way for the weekend. After a cool and wet Thursday, conditions will improve just in time for Friday and the first weekend of the season.
According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers will develop Thursday afternoon and continue into the evening, with a high of 63°F. Winds will be breezy at times, with gusts up to 31 mph. Rain chances remain high overnight, with temperatures dropping to 29°F.
Friday morning will start cloudy but will gradually clear by midday, bringing sunshine and a high of 45°F. Winds will be lighter, but temperatures will still feel cool.
Saturday’s forecast calls for a mix of rain and snow showers in the morning, transitioning to light rain later in the day. Despite the unsettled start, highs will reach 51°F, making for a milder afternoon. By Saturday night, skies will clear, with overnight lows near 23°F.
Sunday looks to be the best day of the weekend, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 44°F. Some rain and snow showers may return late Sunday night, leading into a wetter Monday.
Drivers on I-81 and surrounding highways should prepare for slick roads early Saturday. Warmer temperatures next week will bring more stable conditions, with highs in the mid-40s.
