New York, NY – Wind gusts nearing 30 mph could stir up outdoor plans Sunday in New York City as bright skies and springlike warmth return. Temperatures will climb to a pleasant 70°F by mid-afternoon, but stiff breezes may disrupt travel along I-87 and park activities across Manhattan.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday’s winds will strengthen by midday, peaking at 28 mph. Sustained winds of 15–17 mph from the west will persist throughout the day before easing after sunset. Skies will stay mostly sunny, with no rain in the forecast until later next week.
Those heading outside should secure loose outdoor items and take extra caution while driving in open areas and on elevated roadways. Despite the sun, cooler air and gusts may still make jackets necessary, especially near the water.
By Sunday night, temperatures will dip to 57°F with sustained winds at 17 mph, ushering in a calm and mostly clear Monday. Monday and Tuesday stay dry with highs near 66°F to 70°F and mostly clear nights in the 50s.
However, rain chances ramp back up by midweek. A 50% chance of showers returns Wednesday morning, increasing to 70% by night, followed by back-to-back rain chances on Thursday and Friday. Highs drop slightly to the upper 50s and low 60s, with cooler nights in the low 50s.
