Albany, New York – A prolonged stretch of wet weather is underway in the Capital Region, with steady rain, patchy fog, and possible thunderstorms expected through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday starts with patchy fog and a 100% chance of rain, tapering slightly into the evening. Precipitation totals could reach up to half an inch by nightfall. Calm winds will pick up from the east later in the day at 5 to 9 mph.

The rain continues Tuesday with a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., bringing another round of steady rainfall and potentially heavier downpours. A southeast breeze up to 9 mph may enhance storm development, particularly in low-lying areas and near the Hudson River corridor. Drivers on I-87 and Route 9 should plan for reduced visibility and slick roads through Wednesday.

By Wednesday, showers are still likely with a high near 71°F and a continued risk of scattered thunderstorms through the afternoon. Conditions gradually improve by Thursday, with drier weather and warmer temperatures heading into the weekend.
