Albany, N.Y. – Heavy rainfall drenched eastern New York and western New England over the past two days, with some communities recording more than three inches of much-needed precipitation.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, widespread rain totals ranged from half an inch in parts of the Adirondacks to over three inches in Torrington, Connecticut. The Hudson Valley was among the hardest hit, with Poughkeepsie reporting 2.15 inches and Kingston near 2 inches. Farther north, Albany picked up just under an inch, while Pittsfield, Massachusetts, collected 1.22 inches.

Localized pockets saw even higher amounts. The Catskills measured between 1.5 and 2.5 inches, and western Massachusetts towns reported steady downpours topping 2 inches. Glens Falls, by contrast, saw less than half an inch, highlighting sharp differences across the region.

The rainfall eased drought conditions in parts of the Hudson Valley and Berkshires but also created ponding on low-lying roads. Drivers are urged to remain cautious where water lingers on poorly drained streets.

Forecasters say scattered showers remain possible through midweek, but the heaviest rain has already moved east. Updates will follow if additional flooding concerns develop.
