New York greets March with a sharp bite in the air and light flakes drifting across parts of Buffalo. Side streets look dusted early, and untreated pavement could turn slick before late morning. Temperatures sit near 19 degrees, keeping any snow that falls quick to stick.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, scattered snow showers taper off by late morning with little or no accumulation expected. Highs struggle to reach 24 degrees today under partly sunny skies. Northwest winds around 10 mph add a wind chill edge along the Lake Erie shoreline.
Skies turn partly cloudy tonight as lows fall to 10 degrees. Monday brings sunshine and a modest rebound to near 30. It stays dry through the day, but clouds increase Monday night with lows around 24.
Changes arrive Tuesday. Snow develops before late morning, then mixes with and changes to rain as temperatures climb to 41 degrees. That transition could create slushy conditions on the I-190 and Route 33 corridors. By Tuesday night, rain likely continues with lows near 34 and up to a quarter inch possible.
Wednesday pushes to 50 degrees with scattered rain, a noticeable Spring tease for early March. Showers linger into Thursday with highs near 49. We gain nearly 90 minutes of daylight this month, and clocks spring forward at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8.
Longer-range trends favor above-normal temperatures into the 6–10 day window. For now, watch for slick spots today and messy travel Tuesday. What are conditions like in your neighborhood?
