Binghamton, NY – A strong early-season cold front is bringing a widespread frost and freeze threat to Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania overnight into Thursday morning, with another round expected Thursday night into Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a Freeze Warning is in effect for Northern Oneida County from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, while a Frost Advisory covers much of Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania, including Onondaga, Broome, Tompkins, Delaware, and Bradford Counties. A Freeze Watch remains in place for Thursday evening through Friday morning across the broader region.
Temperatures are forecast to dip below freezing in Northern Oneida County, while most other areas will see overnight lows in the low to mid-30s. Winds are expected to calm, allowing frost to form on exposed surfaces.
The NWS warns that these conditions could kill crops and damage sensitive vegetation, and residents are urged to protect outdoor plants and plumbing.
Another freeze is possible late Thursday night into Friday morning, marking the coldest stretch of the season so far for much of the region.
