Binghamton, NY – Travelers along the New York–Pennsylvania border should be prepared for a wet commute Wednesday followed by colder air and light snow through Thanksgiving and Black Friday, according to new forecast maps from the Weather Prediction Center.

According to the WPC, widespread rain will push north into the Southern Tier of New York and Northern Pennsylvania early Wednesday, affecting communities including Binghamton, Elmira, Corning, Olean, Jamestown, Bradford, Warren, and Mansfield. Rain may fall steadily through the afternoon, especially along the I-86 corridor and across Route 15 heading toward Williamsport. Drivers should expect slower travel and reduced visibility.

As colder air filters into the region Wednesday night and Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 27, 2025), rain is likely to transition to scattered snow showers. The best chance for accumulation will be in the western Southern Tier and northern Pennsylvania hilltops—particularly around Coudersport, Bradford, and the higher terrain south of Olean. While amounts appear light, untreated roads could become slick during the morning hours.

Farther east toward Binghamton, Elmira, and Towanda, snow looks lighter and more intermittent, though a few brief bursts of lake-enhanced snow are possible closer to the western edges of the region.

By Black Friday (November 28, 2025), another push of cold air may keep flurries and snow showers going, especially in the western Twin Tiers. Highs will remain chilly, and early shoppers could experience icy spots—mainly on rural roads.

Travelers along the NY–PA border should plan for rain Wednesday, light snow Thursday, and continued snow chances Friday, especially west of US-15 and near higher terrain.
