New York, NY – A low-pressure system will bring steady, light rain to the Tri-State region from early Sunday through Monday evening, with localized totals nearing three-quarters of an inch in parts of Long Island and coastal Connecticut.
According to the National Weather Service in New York, rainfall will begin Sunday morning and continue through at least 7 p.m. Monday. Most of the region can expect totals between 0.25″ and 0.50″, with the highest amounts forecast for eastern Suffolk County, southeastern Connecticut, and Montauk, which could reach up to 0.72″.
Cities like White Plains, Newark, and Paramus are forecast to receive less than 0.30″, while areas along the I-95 corridor in Connecticut, including East Haddam and New London, may see totals exceeding half an inch. Rainfall rates are expected to remain light, but slick roads and reduced visibility could impact Monday morning commutes.
While flooding is not anticipated, drivers should slow down on wet roads and allow extra time during travel. Residents are encouraged to check storm drains and avoid parking in low-lying areas.
Rain chances taper off Monday evening, though additional unsettled weather is possible midweek.
