New York, NY – Residents across the New York City metro area and surrounding suburbs should prepare for a chilly night as temperatures dip into the mid-30s, prompting multiple Frost Advisories and a Freeze Watch extending into early Monday.
According to the National Weather Service offices in Mount Holly, NJ, and New York, NY, the Frost Advisory is in effect from 11 PM Saturday to 9 AM Sunday, while the Freeze Watch begins late Sunday night through Monday morning for interior areas.
The Frost Advisory includes northern New Jersey, southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New York, and southern Connecticut, covering Mercer, Monmouth, Camden, Bucks, Chester, Orange, Westchester, and Fairfield Counties. Temperatures are forecast to fall into the mid-30s, with some inland valleys dropping closer to 32°F.
The Freeze Watch covers Orange County (NY), Western Passaic County (NJ), and portions of northern Connecticut, where lows may reach the upper 20s to low 30s by early Monday.
Forecasters warn that frost and freeze conditions could kill sensitive plants and damage unprotected vegetation or plumbing. Residents are urged to cover outdoor plants, bring potted flowers inside, and disconnect garden hoses ahead of the coldest hours before sunrise.
Temperatures are expected to rebound into the 50s Sunday afternoon under mostly sunny skies before another round of subfreezing conditions develops late Sunday night.
