White Plains, NY – Drivers across parts of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut are facing slippery road conditions Tuesday morning as snow continues to fall across the region, impacting a busy holiday travel day.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from early Tuesday morning through 4 p.m. for several counties across the tri-state area. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 1 to 4 inches, with the higher amounts focused north and west of New York City.

Advisories include Northern Fairfield County in Connecticut, Eastern and Western Passaic County and Western Bergen County in New Jersey, and Rockland, Northern Westchester, Orange, and Putnam counties in New York. Communities such as White Plains, Peekskill, Nyack, New City, Mahwah, Paterson, Danbury, and Middletown are likely to see the most notable impacts.

Forecasters expect 1 to 3 inches of snow across Northern Fairfield, Eastern Passaic, Western Bergen, Rockland, and Northern Westchester counties, while Western Passaic, Orange, and Putnam counties could see 2 to 4 inches, particularly in higher elevations.

The snow is creating slick and snow-covered roadways, especially on untreated surfaces, bridges, and overpasses. The hazardous conditions are expected to impact the Tuesday morning commute, with lingering issues possible through the early afternoon.

Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and use caution, even where snowfall appears light. Conditions should gradually improve later Tuesday as snowfall tapers off.

Motorists are encouraged to monitor local transportation updates for real-time road conditions and delays through state Department of Transportation services.
