Albany, New York – Snowfall across eastern New York and western New England is creating hazardous travel conditions through early Monday, prompting a Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, the advisory remains in effect until 4 a.m. EST Monday and covers Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia, and eastern Rensselaer counties in New York, along with large portions of western Connecticut, western Massachusetts, and southern Vermont.
Forecasters expect total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches, with periods of steady snowfall impacting both primary and secondary roadways. Accumulation on untreated surfaces is expected to reduce traction, particularly during overnight and early morning travel hours.
The advisory area includes communities such as Poughkeepsie, Kingston, Hudson, Pittsfield, Torrington, Bennington, and Brattleboro, along with surrounding rural and higher-elevation locations where snowfall rates may briefly intensify.
The National Weather Service warns that slippery road conditions may impact the Monday morning commute, especially on bridges, overpasses, and less-traveled roads. Visibility reductions may also occur during heavier snow bands.
Motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time. Road conditions may change quickly as temperatures hover near freezing.
This advisory applies broadly across the region and is not limited to a single municipality. Additional updates may be issued if snowfall totals or impacts increase.
