Buffalo, N.Y. – Moms across western and north-central New York can expect bright sunshine this Mother’s Day, but don’t ditch the light jacket just yet—temperatures will stay a few degrees below seasonal norms.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, Sunday’s highs will range from 58°F in Lowville to 68°F in Jamestown and Dansville, with calm N-NE winds between 5 to 10 mph. Morning lows started in the 40s, and conditions will stay cool into the evening.

From Batavia to Wellsville, outdoor plans are in luck with clear skies and dry air dominating the region. Buffalo will top out near 66°F, while Rochester and Canandaigua are expected to hit 65°F and 67°F, respectively. No rain is in sight, making this a great day for backyard brunches, garden strolls, or scenic drives along Lake Ontario.

Although sunny, residents should dress in layers and prepare for a noticeable breeze, especially near open fields and lakeshores. Wind chills may linger in the 50s through midday.

Warmer weather returns Monday with highs climbing into the mid to upper 70s across most of the area. Another update is expected early Monday from the NWS.
