Albany, N.Y. – Summer warmth will surge across eastern New York and western New England this week, with temperatures climbing nearly 20 degrees above Saturday’s highs by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, widespread warming begins Sunday and intensifies through Wednesday, when several cities—including Kingston, Poughkeepsie, and Bennington—are expected to reach or exceed 90°F. Albany is projected to hit 86°F on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Glens Falls, Amsterdam, and Pittsfield will all see a rapid rise from the upper 60s today to mid-80s by Tuesday and Wednesday. While no heat advisories are currently in effect, forecasters urge residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
The warming trend follows a stretch of below-normal temperatures and will mark the first significant heat of June for much of the region. Roads, trails, and outdoor venues across the Capital Region and Berkshires will likely see increased use as the weather improves.
Temperatures are expected to stay in the 80s into next weekend, with more details coming as the week progresses.
