New York, NY – Cooler temperatures are expected to persist across New York today, with scattered rain showers anticipated primarily in the northern regions of the Mid-Hudson Valley during the afternoon and evening hours. According to the National Weather Service in Albany, the high temperatures across the state will range from the mid-50s to the mid-60s, with Albany expected to reach 63°F. Showers are more likely to develop after midday, with a probability of precipitation ranging between 30-50% in most areas.

An isolated thunderstorm cannot be ruled out this afternoon in areas including southern Vermont, the Berkshires, and the Capital District, as conditions become more unstable later in the day. Residents in these areas should be prepared for brief periods of heavy rain and possibly gusty winds associated with any thunderstorms.

As the week progresses, Thursday’s forecast indicates drier conditions with only a minimal chance of showers. Temperatures will remain on the cooler side, providing relief from summer heat.

The NWS advises keeping updated with local weather alerts as these showers and storms could disrupt afternoon and evening plans.
