Buffalo, NY – A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for parts of western New York, including Southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties, until 8 a.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, visibility will drop to a quarter mile or less at times due to widespread fog developing overnight, especially across higher terrain. The thickest fog is expected in hilltop communities such as Orchard Park, Springville, and Wellsville, where low clouds are intersecting with elevated areas.

Motorists traveling along rural roads or higher elevations are urged to drive cautiously. Reduced visibility may lead to hazardous driving conditions, particularly in pre-dawn hours when fog coverage is expected to be most widespread.

The advisory began Saturday evening and will continue through early Sunday. Fog conditions may improve after sunrise as temperatures rise, but early morning drivers should prepare for extended travel time.

Residents are advised to use headlights, reduce speed, and maintain safe distances on the road. Authorities recommend checking local traffic alerts before commuting.

This is the first Dense Fog Advisory issued for the region this spring, with conditions more commonly seen in early fall. Visibility may vary at lower elevations but will remain limited in elevated rural zones throughout the advisory period.
