Little Valley, N.Y. – Roads across central Cattaraugus County are under water Thursday evening after intense thunderstorms dumped up to 3.5 inches of rain in just a few hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 7:30 p.m. for the area, with law enforcement reporting ongoing flooding in Little Valley and near the Cattaraugus County Landfill. While the heavy rain has ended, flash flooding continues to threaten low-lying roads, creeks, and poor drainage zones.

Residents should avoid non-essential travel. Officials urge drivers to turn around if they encounter flooded roads — especially on rural routes where water depth may be difficult to judge. Floodwaters can rise quickly and remain dangerous even after the rain stops.

Impacted areas include Little Valley and nearby infrastructure along Route 353 and county roads. Emergency crews remain on standby for possible rescues or road closures.

⚠️ Flash Flood Warning remains in effect through 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Stay tuned to local alerts for updates.
