New York – Snow falls thick and steady across Buffalo and western New York this morning, blanketing cars, sidewalks, and interstates in a layer of white that’s expected to deepen through the day. By late morning, travel across I-90, I-290, and Route 219 may slow to a crawl as visibility drops under a half mile in bursts of heavier snow.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 p.m., calling for 2–4 inches of snow accumulation across Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Northern Erie, and Genesee Counties. Snow will peak in intensity through early afternoon before tapering this evening, but slippery roads and reduced visibility will persist into the evening commute.

Drivers should plan for snow-covered and icy stretches, especially on bridges and untreated surfaces. Temperatures hover near 24°F, and with northwest winds up to 15 mph, wind chills may dip into the teens.

By midweek, conditions briefly calm as Wednesday turns partly cloudy, though another fast-moving cold front Wednesday night could trigger a burst of snow showers and reinforce the chill into Thursday. Highs remain in the upper 20s to mid-30s through Friday before climbing slightly this weekend.

Meteorologists warn the first week of December may bring continued lake-effect bursts and early-winter slick spots across the region.

Keep snow shovels and salt handy — and if you must travel today, leave early and drive slow.
