New York, NY – The National Weather Service has issued Freeze Warnings for much of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, as temperatures are forecast to drop well below freezing overnight into Monday, October 27.

The warnings include Orange, Putnam, and Northern Westchester counties in New York, Western Passaic County, New Jersey, and Northern Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties in Connecticut. Meanwhile, separate alerts from the NWS Buffalo office cover Niagara, Monroe, Wayne, and Northern Erie counties across western New York.

Forecasters expect overnight lows between 28 and 31 degrees, cold enough to kill sensitive plants, damage crops, and freeze unprotected outdoor pipes. The coldest air will settle inland, with slightly milder conditions near Lake Ontario’s shoreline.

Residents are advised to cover or bring in plants, drain outdoor hoses, and wrap exposed pipes to prevent bursting. Pet owners should also ensure animals have warm shelter overnight.

Temperatures are expected to rebound slightly Monday afternoon before another potential frost risk midweek.
