New York, NY – The Northeast is bracing for a winter storm this weekend, with New York City expected to see snow and sleet. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions and closely monitor weather updates.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS), a Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Saturday at 7:00 PM EST to Sunday at 11:00 AM EST. The system could bring 3 to 5 inches of snow and sleet, along with a light glaze of ice, making roads slick and potentially dangerous. Bridges and overpasses will be especially hazardous, and travelers are advised to use extreme caution.

Saturday will be cloudy with snow and sleet in the afternoon, though little accumulation is expected. Temperatures will range from 35°F (2°C) during the day to 31°F (-1°C) at night. Sunday morning may bring additional snow and rain before giving way to partly sunny skies and a high of 40°F (5°C). The winter system could continue to impact the region early next week, with another round of snow or mixed precipitation possible on Wednesday.

Residents should consider delaying travel. If driving is necessary, bring emergency supplies such as blankets, a flashlight, a first aid kit, and extra clothing. Stay updated with the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service.
