New York, NY – New Yorkers are set to enjoy a stretch of pleasant weather through Labor Day, with sunshine and highs in the mid-70s dominating the holiday weekend. That pattern will hold into midweek before showers begin to move into the region.

According to the National Weather Service, today will stay sunny with a high near 73 degrees, followed by mostly clear skies tonight with lows in the low 60s. Sunday will be another warm, dry day before a few clouds drift in Sunday night. Labor Day is expected to stay mostly sunny, though winds may increase slightly by the afternoon.

The calm, dry stretch is good news for holiday travelers and outdoor events across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, where road and transit conditions are expected to remain favorable. Central Park, Coney Island, and other gathering spots can expect comfortable late-summer conditions without excessive heat.

By Thursday, however, a system moving eastward is forecast to bring a 30 to 50 percent chance of showers across the city, with rain lingering into Friday. Cooler air could follow, aligning with a broader national pattern that shows much of the Midwest and Northeast trending below normal temperatures by next weekend.

Residents should take advantage of the dry holiday weekend while keeping umbrellas handy later in the week.
