New York City Weather: Rain and Thunderstorms Likely Tuesday Night Through Wednesday

NEW YORK CITY – A warm, sunny Monday will give way to a stormy midweek across New York City as rain and thunderstorms move in late Tuesday night, bringing a sharp temperature drop by Wednesday. Commuters could face slick roads and reduced visibility during the Wednesday morning rush as a strong cold front pushes through the region.

According to the National Weather Service, showers are expected to develop after midnight Tuesday, with possible thunderstorms and gusty south winds near 14 mph. Rainfall totals could reach up to half an inch, tapering off by Wednesday evening as cooler, drier air arrives.

Temperatures will fall from a high near 82°F Monday to the upper 60s by Wednesday, before rebounding into the low 80s again by Friday under clear skies. Thursday and Friday are expected to stay sunny with calmer winds and cooler nights in the upper 40s to low 50s.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items ahead of Tuesday night’s storms and allow extra travel time Wednesday morning.
