New York, NY – Temperatures across New York City and the greater metro area are expected to climb sharply this weekend, peaking near 90°F by Sunday, following a mild and sunny Fourth of July.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, Friday, July 4 will bring highs in the low-to-mid 80s across the five boroughs, with Central Park reaching 84°F and Long Island areas like Islip and Riverhead staying in the upper 70s to low 80s. Skies will remain mostly sunny, offering comfortable conditions for Independence Day celebrations.

By Saturday, temperatures begin to rise into the upper 80s in areas such as Paramus, Newark, and White Plains, before surging to 90°F or higher on Sunday. Forecast highs for July 6 include 90°F in NYC, Poughkeepsie, and New City; 91°F in Trenton, New Brunswick, and Hartford, CT. Long Island coastal communities like Montauk and Riverhead will stay cooler in the low 80s.

This brief heat-up comes with elevated UV levels and increased air conditioning demand. Residents should limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, hydrate often, and check on vulnerable neighbors, especially seniors and children.

Temperatures are expected to remain near 90°F into early next week. Heat advisories may be issued if humidity increases.
