New York, NY – Residents in Manhattan, Staten Island, and parts of northeast New Jersey should brace for coastal flooding beginning tonight, with a second round expected Friday evening. The National Weather Service has issued Coastal Flood Advisories for both 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. tonight and the same time window Friday, warning of potential street flooding near shorelines and low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service, tide cycles combined with persistent onshore winds will push water levels higher than normal. Minor flooding is likely in vulnerable neighborhoods, particularly along the Hudson River, eastern Essex, and eastern Union counties in New Jersey. Drivers are urged to avoid roads near waterfronts during the advisory periods.

Today will stay cloudy with occasional showers and breezy northeast winds up to 20 mph. By Friday, skies will clear, but the flooding risk remains with evening high tide. Saturday looks drier and sunny, offering some relief before unsettled weather returns late Sunday into Monday, when showers are again possible.

Residents should monitor local alerts and be prepared for road closures or transit delays near coastal routes. Coastal Flood Advisories remain in effect through Friday night, with additional statements possible depending on tidal surges.
